In the Morgantown community, Literati participates with the development and management of several community web sites. For the Morgantown Area Chamber Commerce, Literati maintains the member listing on the site. In June 2000, Literati continued its commitment to the community with the creation of www.artsmon.org, the WWW site for Arts Monongahela, a local nonprofit association that showcases the work of area artists, actors, musicians and artisans. For Leadership Monongalia, Literati created a site to help promote community leadership development and activities.
Literati believes in supporting youth organizations. Three of Literatiís staff members are actively involved with Boy Scout Troop 65 in Morgantown, WV. Hank Burton is Scoutmaster, Jeff Anderson is an Assistant Scoutmaster and Bob Burton is a troop committee member. These three regularly volunteer their time to help the scouts in Troop 65 with troop activities and personal advancement and growth toward earning the Eagle Scout rank.
Literati is also involved with the Technology Student Association (TSA),a vocational organization devoted to educating middle school and high school students on technology issues. Each year, Hank and Bob Burton volunteer with the West Virginia TSA organization in coordinating the groupís conferences and the maintenance of their web site. The Literati staff also works with students in the local school TSA chapters in preparation of the competitive events they participate in each year at the WV TSA Spring Conference and the TSA National Conference.
Literati is very committed to environmental issues as it relates to our community and technology. Our staff regularly recycles shredded documents, cardboard, cans, food containers and plastics in our office. We are also a committed supporter of the electronics recycling program (eCycling) through the Monongalia County Community Recycling Center under the auspices of the Monongalia County Solid Waste Authority. Literati is a corporate sponsor and contributor to the annual electronics recycling day held each year around Earth Day in the Morgantown area.
